The Loving Bite offers Catering & Cooking Classes out of Portland, Maine. Founded by Chef Will Donnelly to empower people to eat healthier and get the most out of their hard work!

Will Donnelly is a chef & cooking instructor currently operating in Portland, Maine. His career in the food industry started scrubbing dishes and preparing breads in Rockland, Maine 20 years ago. It was where his sister had cooked before him, when his family first immigrated to New York City from South Africa and would drive to Maine during hot, smelly summers in NYC.

Growing up in New York and going back to South Africa to see family periodically, Will was amazed by all the flavors, smells and people in the world around him. He cooked at home with his family, and spent a lot of time telling people he is not Australian. Maine, although a distant place, was a place he to connected with nature and outdoor life. After finding his passion for cooking he realized he needed to learn the chemistry, techniques, cultural history and theory of cooking so he decided to further his education at the Culinary Institute of America in upstate New York. With some luck & lots of diligent paperwork, he later managed to find an opportunity to refine his craft at a renowned Spanish & Moroccan restaurant, Moro, in London, U.K., where he cooked for the next two years. Will returned back to NYC and continued to work for high-end restaurants, caterers and other specialty food businesses for the next seven years; and at one point he was honored to cook with a team at the prestigious James Beard House in New York.

He relocated to Maine in 2018 in search of affordable housing and somewhere he could plant himself for years to come that had a great culinary scene and abundant local farms. Will is a supporter of the slow food movement, whole food cooking and empowering people to cook more and eat better through culinary education.
